Established in 2005, Curtis Research is an independent consultancy managed by Mark Curtis. Mark was formerly a Research Fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), Director of the World Development Movement and Head of Policy/Advocacy at both Christian Aid and ActionAid.

Curtis Research mainly undertakes:

  • Research: country investigations, desk-based research, investigative journalism

  • Writing/editing: reports and briefings

  • Advice: advocacy, campaigning, research strategy

  • Evaluations: projects and advocacy strategies

 

Current/recent clients include:


Mark has extensive fieldwork experience in numerous countries. Since 2007, he has conducted research work
in Ghana, Uganda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Cote D’Ivoire, Tanzania, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi and Kenya.
This work has involved investigations in rural areas and with policy-makers and other opinion formers.

Mark is currently a Research Fellow at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow) and has been Visiting Research Fellow
at the Institut Français des Relations Internationales, Paris and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik, Bonn.
He is a graduate of Goldsmiths’ College, University of London and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
He has written five books and numerous articles on British and US foreign policies and international development and
trade issues.
